The only thing I know for sure is that it's always Firefox and System which are on top of the list in Task Manager's disk usage when it's 100% and of those two Firefox is the absolute winner, that's why I'm turning to you now to see if you can help me with this. The big problem for me is that the slowness is intermittent. Oh, I remember the Windows Search function. I tried some other things I found online, but I'm afraid I forgot about them in the meantime. I tried disabling my antivirus (MBAM Premium), my VPN (Proton), I have no other realtime things running but MBAM, the laptop is superclean, so it's no infection (I make a system image backup each month and prior to that I clean the whole laptop, I do scans with MBAM and ESET (online scanner), I do AdwareCleaner, CCleaner (cleaner, registry and startup files), disk cleanup, chkdsk and sfc /scannow and defragmentation). I have been reading about it and trying out a lot, but I cannot find what is causing it.
On my laptop (W8.1 shell W7, 8 Gb RAM) I'm experiencing extreme slowness due to 100% disk usage since a few months.
